In-Person Art Classes
Master Traditional Techniques & Build a Strong Portfolio

_edited.jpg)
Our in-person courses at Joy Art Studio are designed to help students master traditional art techniques—drawing, sketching, watercolor, gouache, and acrylic painting—while developing original ideas for a compelling personal portfolio. With small class sizes (just 2–3 students), each 2-hour session offers focused, one-on-one guidance in an inspiring studio environment.
Level 1
age 5 - 8, K2 - G3
In this age group, children are naturally imaginative and curious. We encourage them to explore their creativity express their ideas freely without the constraints of technical skills.
Level 2
age 9 - 11, G4 - G6
At this growth stage, children are increasingly developing rational thinking and self-awareness. Their perception of the world approaches that of adults, and they desire to more accurately express what they see. However, they often find that their hand skills struggle to keep up with their brain. We guide them to experiment with various drawing and painting methods to transform ideas into visual form, improve their hand-eye coordination, and enhance their appreciation of beauty. I encourage enjoyment in the process, rather than just the final product.
Level 3
age 12 - 17, G7 - G12
As early adolescents, their ability for complex thought increases, and they are more able to pinpoint and express their feelings and opinions on things. Cultivating individual style is essential for young students. I guide them in exploring diverse techniques and influences with a structured yet flexible art curriculum, allowing students to hone their unique artistic voices. The art courses are divided into four major sections: fundamental art theory, inspiration from history, art movements/artists’ styles, ideas and projects.
Competitions & Awards
Each year, we take our students to participate in art competitions and exhibitions across the globe—an experience that broadens their horizons and challenges them to create with purpose and professionalism. From concept to completion, they gain independence, confidence, and the courage to take on new creative challenges.
